It is a (made-up) comet, named Nocturne, and it is present in both 79 Ceti b’s universe and 29 Ellen b/Joides’s universe (they are all a part of the exciting and fantastic group, !!!)

Name: Nocturne

Symbol: Nocturne’s symbol includes a sand hourglass, a skull, blood, a scale, tombstones, and an (newborn) infant.

A.K.A: N/A

Position: Nocturne is a (made-up) comet that has a red tail. When it passes, people claim that someone dies and so Nocturne is mostly known as “the unlucky comet” or the “blood comet” (for its notably red tail that trails behind as the comet travels). But, sometimes, when a family (especially with a conceived woman) sees Nocturne’s comet, they are said to have delivered a healthy child, and for this, Nocturne is also sometimes referred to as “the blessed comet”.

Hair Color: Deep blood red

Personality Traits: Nocturne doesn’t have a personality. It’s just there. It doesn’t show sadness, happiness, fear, or anger. Nocturne simply exists and doesn’t portray any form of emotions. Everything it does is done neutrally and without any feelings whatsoever.

Its body structure: Nocturne has a lean build with pale white skin and long, rugged scarlet red hair. The hairs on the side curls back, while Nocturne has one mass of hair tied in the back like a ponytail. Its body is mostly covered in layers of cloaks (with a thick fur covering its shoulders and back of its neck/hair) and its arms are usually hidden underneath its main black cloak. Its most notable feature is the skull that covers its eyes. While one half of the skull rests on top of its head, the other half (the jaw) serves as a necklace. Nocturne also has other adornments, like another extra necklace below the skull’s jaw, and two triangular gold earrings.

Guardian/ moons/ satellites: Nocturne has no known guardian, moons, or satellites.

Base Power: Nocturne is a spirit that has the ability to bring death and the ability to bring life. It is mostly known to be like a grim reaper that takes away souls and brings death (the ability to bring death), neither in a peaceful nor cruel way. It simply does its job, and to do so, Nocturne uses a special sand hourglass that has the ability to momentarily pause time. Once the hourglass is flipped, Nocturne has a limited amount of time to do what it has to do while time is stopped, which usually involves taking the soul and sending it to somewhere the living don’t know. Sometimes, Nocturne creates another living being with the soul that was taken away (which explains his ability to bring life)

When the hourglass’s sand has completed and finished, Nocturne has already, by then, taken the soul to its resting place and has left behind the body. In this sense, Nocturne has the ability of reincarnation and salvaging souls after death.

During the time that Nocturne’s comet goes by, that is when Nocturne gets its job done. So, during a split second, Nocturne flips the hourglass, takes the soul, and either sends it somewhere or creates another being with it. The moment the hourglass’s last grain of sand passes through, that also symbolizes that the individual’s time is up (death). But when Nocturne creates a new life, the hourglass, is yet again, flipped, which can also symbolize a new beginning of a new life (a new flip for the hourglass).

When Nocturne works with souls, this is usually when it reveals its arms from its cloak to perform its job.

Nocturne also has the ability to manipulate blood. This explains why dead bodies grow pale after Nocturne passes by. Nocturne takes their blood and scatters it as it flies across the universe as a comet. For this, it has a red tail when it flies as a comet. People believe Nocturne does this to mark its presence of death and/or a new life.

With the ability to bring death and life, Nocturne brings harmony and balance to the place it passes. If it takes life away, then it makes sure that new life enters. And while Nocturne’s victims include from an unborn child to an elderly, Nocturne ensures to maintain a harmonious balance of both young and old in both life and death. However, Nocturne does not use this ability often…only when the job is needed to be done, it fulfills it. But Nocturne does not abuse it. This balance that Nocturne maintains is also the reason why it is also symbolized by a scale (equality).

Additionally, although Nocturne does bring death, it does not necessarily bring the cause of death. For instance, if a person is dying of a sickness, Nocturne did not bring the sickness. Instead, Nocturne simply takes the soul away right before the person dies from the illness. This goes for the same with giving life. Nocturne does not give the personalities nor does it play a role in the creation of a child. Once a woman is conceived, then does Nocturne fulfill its job by placing a soul into the fetus that will eventually become a child.

Because Nocturne’s job consists of dealing with souls and such, Nocturne cannot be seen by the living. Only when it’s a comet, it can be visibly seen by others, but in its personified form, Nocturne is a spirit that living people can’t see.

Closest Companions: Nocturne has no known closest companions.

Hatred: Nocturne has no hatred.

Nocturne’s Background: Not too much is known about Nocturne because of its mysterious, spirit-like presence, but because death and life occurs everywhere, Nocturne is present in both 79 Ceti b’s universe and 29 Ellen b and Joides’s universe. Nocturne also visits other universes to fulfill its job.

Since Nocturne can take souls and create a new life (a new being), it can be also said that when 79 Ceti b and his wife was blessed with their children, 29 Ellen b and Joides, Nocturne was there to place 29 Ellen b’s and Joides’s souls into their bodies and introduce the twins to life.

No one knows for sure where Nocturne can be at any moment, but if one sees a red tailed comet fly by, or if someone dies, or if a blessed birth occurs, mostly likely is it then that Nocturne was there with its sand hourglass to stop time momentarily and help get its task done.
